Employment Contracts

 

Changes that result in the generation of a new contract:

Original appointment to an established Faculty or A&P position
Reappointment at the beginning of each academic year
Change in Tenure or Tenure-Earning status
Change in principal place of employment or department
Change from Academic to Calendar year appointment or vice versa - or other permanent change in months appointed
Permanent change in FTE (not when splitting for budget purposes)
Changes in Rank/Title (i.e. from an Assistant Professor to Associate Professor)
Permanent salary change, other than increases provided by the legislature

 
Changes that will not result in the generation of a new contract:

Receipt of Notice of Non-renewal
Receipt of Notice of Layoff
Addition or removal of modifiers which do NOT carry special clauses or conditions of employment (i.e. Joint, Affiliate, Clinical, etc...), or courtesy titles of any kind (i.e. Emeritus)
Sabbatical or other special leaves with or without pay
Change in account number only
Temporary changes in salary, such a Temporary Pay Increase
Additionally, contracts will not be issued for summer appointments, unless it is the initial appointment for the employee. Please advise your college and departmental staff of this, in the event they have missed this information from other sources.
