About the IBL

The Institute on Black Life (IBL) was established in the Fall of 1986 under the Office of the Provost to serve as a bridge between USF and the global community. The mission of the IBL is to serve as a resource center on the African American community and other peoples of the African Diasporan Community, and also on those issues that affect their interaction with the larger world community. In pursuit of this mission the Institute conducts and promotes interdisciplinary research, university/community based programs, faculty and student development, and related social and economic initiatives that enhance the quality of life for all peoples.
