Affiliated Training Agencies
The varied opportunities for scholarly learning, professional
collaboration, role modeling and mentoring are a major
strength
of the intern training program. The Counseling Center maintains
mutual training relationships with the James
A. Haley Veterans Hospital which offers an APA accredited
predoctoral internship. Interns may gain experiential training
in several other agencies, including the Moffitt
Cancer Center, Tampa
General Hospital, the Florida Diagnostic and Learning
Resources System, USF
Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine,
the
Carter-Jenkins
Center - Psychoanalytic Institute, and Mental Health
Care Inc. These agencies provide opportunities for a wide
range
of training experiences in neuropsychology, behavioral medicine,
substance abuse treatment, mental health and public policy,
and organizational consultation, as well as supervised experience
with a broad range of client populations, including medical
and psychiatric inpatients, children, adolescents, and adults.
Interns select external placements on the basis of their
interests,
previous experience, and level of training.
