Upper Level Requirements

Upper-level applicants who have earned 60+ transferable credits, but without an A.A. degree, are required to have a minimum 2.75 transfer GPA for admission to USF. Beginning in Summer 2010, the minimum transfer admission GPA requirement for Tampa will increase to 3.00.

Note: A former USF student returning is any degree-seeking undergraduate student who has not earned his/her degree, who has not been enrolled at USF in any of the last three consecutive terms, and who wishes to re-enroll in the University. Otherwise, you are considered a continuing student and can still register.

NOTE: USF St. Petersburg and USF’s campusesUSF Polytechnic and USF Sarasota-Manatee—will consider upper-level transfers to specific majors at lower postsecondary GPA thresholds, but those students are restricted to those respective campuses for their coursework.

USF requires all transfer applicants with 60+ transferable credits—including A.A. degree recipients from a college or community college within the Florida College System—to meet the GPA requirements for the following selective admissions programs of study:

AA Degree Recipients

Upper-level applicants with an A.A. degree from a college or community college within the Florida College System will be considered for admission with a 2.0 or higher postsecondary GPA in a non-selective programs of study.

USF St. Petersburg and USF's Campuses

USF St. Petersburg and USF’s two campuses—USF Sarasota-Manatee and USF Polytechnic—will consider upper-level transfer applicants without an A.A. degree who have earned 60+ transferable credits with a 2.00 or higher transfer GPA in non-selective admissions program of study, but those students are restricted to those respective campuses for their coursework.

Admission Requirements

You will need to submit the following to be considered for admission:

  • Application for admission
  • Non-refundable $30 application fee
  • Official transcript from each college or university attended* (current up to time of application).
  • Any college or university work that was completed at a non-U.S. institution must be submitted along with a course by course Foreign Credential Evaluation from a Credential Evaluation Service.
  • Official TOEFL or IELTS scores, if applicable

*Electronic transcripts transmitted to USF from the Florida College System do not include courses from other colleges/universities.
